Visto che è luglio, allo scopo di rinfrescarci un pochino, e nel nome del grande spaghetto, abbiamo messo in atto il tentativo di aggiungere ad Hexiano, una (ganzissima) tastiera isomorfa open source per android, un minimale ‘supporto’ per OSC. Giusto il minimo indispensabile perchè sia possibile collegarlo ai nostri synthini HW (e anche a quelli virtuali volendo).
Task spaghettosissimo, abbiam compilato un prototipo che sulle device che abbiamo sottomano funziona (robe vecchie e subproletarie) e se vuoi puoi provarlo pure tu. Ah, è compilato contro la 2.3 (gingerbread se non ricordo male) quindi dovrebbe funzionare su device android aggiornate ALMENO alla 2.3.

PER PROVARLO
Se possibile, provalo su una rete ad-hoc, che e’ considerevolmente più veloce di una classica home network. Questo perchè ovviamente, trattandosi di una tastiera (sebbene isomorfica), e non di un parameter-controller, i tempi di risposta sono molto più critici.

We attempted to add very basic OSC capabilities to Hexiano, the (verycool) open source Isomorphic Keyboard for android, so that we can connect it to our lil HW synths. That sound spaghettish… isn’t it? ;-)

The zip (3.8 megz) contains the android app Hex2Osc.apk, a couple cro-mag example puredata receivers, and a superspaghettish attempt of a java(1.7) receiver, that you’ll find in the Hex2OscReceiver folder
TESTING
If possible, try it on an ad-hoc network, that is considerably faster than the classic ‘home network’, Hexiano is a keyboard (of an isomorphic kind) and not a parameters-controller, so response time is much more important.

VIRTUAL MIDI PORTS
Per usare Hex2Osc potrai aver bisogno di creare porte midi virtuali (almeno una!:-).
To try Hex2Osc you will need to set up some virtual midi ports (at least one! :-)
ON WINDOWS
Se sei su Windowg:) puoi farlo con uno dei seguenti programmi:
LoopBe1 oppure
LoopMidi o anche
MIDI Yoke
If you are on Windowg:) you can do that with one of these proggies:
LoopBe1 or
LoopMidi and also with
MIDI Yoke
ON LINUX
Se sei su linux, o ti organizzi con jack oppure apri una console e inserisci:
modprobe snd-virmidi (chiaramente segue un return:-)
E poi ti configuri le porte che hai appena creato con jack. Jack è presente in molte distro, se per caso nella tua non c’e', vedi sul webbo ufficalo a: http://jackaudio.org/
Per quello che riguarda linux, il discorso è bello (comedire) ampio, e come al solito consigliamo di documentarsi in proprio :)
If you’re on linux open up a your favourite terminal and then type in:
modprobe snd-virmidi
Then you will use jack to configure those newly created midi ports. If you don’t already have jack, then check with the official site of the application at: http://jackaudio.org/
